Shane Nigam's upcoming film Madraskaaran, which marks his debut in the Kollywood industry has officially gone on floors with a customary pooja function. The film is directed by Vaali Mohan Das, who debuted with last year's coming-of-age drama Rangoli.

Niharika Konidela plays the female lead in the film. This will be her second Tamil film after Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren (2018) which starred Vijay Sethupathi and Gautham Karthik. Directors Vasanth and Ponram initiated Madraskaaran with the latter performing the first clap to commence filming.

In a previous conversation with Cinema Express, director Vaali said that the film revolves around the consequences of a minor ego conflict between two individuals. "How a negligible incident completely changes a person's life is the core of our film," he said.

Billed as an action thriller,  Madraskaaran is said to be on the lines of popular Malayalam films, including Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Ishq and Driving Licence. Apart from Shane, Kalaiyarasan plays the other male lead.

The cast of the film also includes Pandiarajan, Kalaiyarasan, Karunas and Aishwarya Dutta who will be playing pivotal roles.

Produced by  B Jagadish of SR Productions, Madraskaaran is aiming for a mid-year release. The film has cinematography by Prasanna and music by Sam CS.
