Director Prasadh Murugan's upcoming hyper-link thriller Once Upon A Time In Madras, starring Bharath in the lead, has a release date.

The makers have announced during the pre-release event on Wednesday that the film will hit the screens on September 26.

Talking during the event, actor Abhirami said the film has elements of politics, crime, action, and emotions, and added it also got things right with regards to representation as the makers have cast a transperson to play a crucial transperson character instead of going for a male.

Bharath said he chose some of his iconic films, such as Emden Magan and Pattiyal, as the stories had a 'striking point'. He added it was a similar case with Once Upon A Time In Madras and accepted just listening to his segment with the confidence that the director would have done a good job with the other segments too.

Once Upon a Time in Madras, produced by MP Anand under Friday Film Factory, also stars Abhirami, Pavithra Lakshmi, Anjali Nair, and Thalaivasal Vijay. On the technical front, the film has editing by San Lokesh, cinematography by Kalidas and Kannan, music by Jose Franklin, and stunts by Sugan.
