Ahead of the releases of Mari Selvaraj's Vaazhai and PS Vinothraj's Kottukkaali, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is the latest from Tinseltown to laud both films.

On his social media handle, the Leo maker called Kottukkaali one of the "most impactful and important stories that has come out recently in Tamil cinema." He congratulated Anna Ben and Soori for their intense performances. He extended special wishes and thanks to director PS Vinothraj and Sivakartikeyan for bringing out this "wonderful film."

He mentioned Mari Selvaraj's Vaazhai in his next tweet, along with Kottukkaali, to thank both the films' cast and crew for "stepping up our game." and called it "one of the golden moments of Tamil cinema."

Vaazhai stars Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, and Janaki. It marks the debut of Mari Selvaraj as a producer; he produced it with his wife, Divya.

On the technical front, Vaazhai has cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Suriya Pradhaman, and music by Santhosh Narayanan.

Kottukkaali marks Soori's second film as a lead, as he debuts as a lead in Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai. For Anna Ben, the film will mark her debut in the Tamil film industry. Sakthi is handling cinematography, while Ganesh Siva is taking care of editing. Soori was last seen in RS Durai Senthilkumar's Garudan, which turned out to be a commercial success and also received positive reviews from critics.

Both Vaazhai and Kottukkaali will release in theatres on August 23.
