One of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT)'s trailer, was released by the makers on Saturday.

The Vijay-starrer's glimpse introduces Gandhi (Vijay) as a deadly spy and hostage-negotiator of a fictional covert intelligence team, SATS. Nothing much is revealed in the trailer except a botched mission and how carefree the male lead is as a family man. Similar to GOAT director Venkat Prabhu's earlier outing Maanaadu, the father and son (both played by Vijay) are racing against time to foil a big conspiracy.

In a recent interview with a Tamil magazine, the film's director, Venkat Prabhu, revealed the plotline. He said, "The characters played by Vijay, Ajmal, Prashanth and Prabhudeva are part of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), which works in tandem with the RAW. The team gets haunted by one of its missions in the past; how they manage to get out of this trouble is what the film is about."

GOAT, with Meenakshi Chaudhary in a lead role, also stars Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Laila, Prabhudeva, Mohan, and Jayaram in prominent roles. Joining them are Venkat Prabhu's frequent collaborators Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajai Raj, and Aravind Akash. The late actor and politician Vijayakanth will appear in the film with the help of AI technology.

GOAT has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, art direction by Rajeevan, and action choreography by Dileep Subbarayan. Archana Kalpathi has produced the film under the AGS Entertainment banner. The film is slated for a September 5 release.
