Vikram's Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith has earned close to Rs 30 crores on the first day of its release. The makers took to their social media handles and shared that the film made Rs 26.44 crores on August 15. They also announced that Thangalaan would have a release across north India on August 30.

Apart from Vikram, the film also stars Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu in prominent roles. The supporting cast also includes Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan. Thangalaan is a historical adventure that narrates the role of oppressed communities in the exploration of gold in the south of India.

Our CE review of the film read, "Thangalaan is a strangely unaffecting film, even though the ideas are all there—and armed with incredible performances too, especially from Vikram and Parvathy (to the point of being almost distracting). While we are already aware of their general excellence, it’s still incredible to behold how comfortable they are with their physicality in this film."

On the technical team, the film has cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer. Neelam Productions is backing Thangalaan, along with Studio Green.
