Dhanush on National Award for Thiruchitrambalam: It's a personal win

Actor Dhanush congratulated team Thiruchitrambalam for winning the National Award under the Best Actress and Best Choreography categories.

The actor called Nithya Menen's National Award win under the Best Actress category a "personal win" for him and also congratulated choreographers Jaani and Satish for the 'Megham Karukatha' song in Thiruchitrambalam.

Nithya Menen's Shobana character from the film won applause from fans and critics alike.

Apart from Thiruchitrambalam, Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 was the other Tamil film to bag the National Awards. Adapted from Kalki Krishnamoorthy's eponymous historical fiction, the film won in the categories of Best Feature Film, Best Music Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Design.

The film, which was released in September 2022, got a sequel last year. Ponniyin Selvan featured a star-studded ensemble including Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Nassar, Jayaram, Rahman, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala.

Thiruchitrambalam, which stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Raashi Khanna, Bharathiraja, and Prakash Raj, is about the titular character, who has a hard time finding love and making up with his father for a past mistake of his that cost the life of his mother. The film opened to largely positive reviews.
