Vishal's Rathnam clears censorship formalities

With hardly ten days to go for Rathnam's release, the makers of the Vishal-starrer announced that the film has cleared censorship formalities and received a U/A from the CBFC.

Two days ago, the trailer of the film was released. The story, set in Vellore, bordering Andhra Pradesh, follows goons who are behind Priya Bhavani Shankar's character for some undisclosed reason and Rathnam (Vishal) comes in their way to foil the bad guys' plans.

Besides Vishal, the action film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Menon, Murali Sharma, and Samuthirakani, among others.

Rathnam is produced by Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Production and Kaarthekeyan Santhanam's Zee Studios. The upcoming film will mark the third collaboration between Hari and Vishal after Thamirabharani (2007) and Poojai (2014). The film was shot in locations like Tuticorin, Trichy, Karaikudi, Vellore, Tirupathi, besides Chennai.

The film has cinematography by M Sukumar and editing by T S Jay.

Rathnam is slated to be released on April 26.
