Director Pa Ranjith and actor Vikram's Thangalaan has been one of the most anticipated films ever since its announcement. On the occasion of actor Vikram's birthday, the makers released a glimpse of the upcoming film. Sharing the short video, the filmmaker said, "An iconic talent, inspiring awe with grit and glory, delivering performances that defy expectations. Happy birthday Vikram. Awaiting your fiery presence on the big screens."

The video showcases the Ponniyin Selvan actor's transformation as a leader of the people. He learns horse riding, undergoes training to execute intense action sequences in the scorching sun and even covers himself in mud.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan stars Vikram and Parvathy Thiruvothu in lead roles. With Malavika Mohanan playing a key role, the film's cast also includes Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan.

Set against the backdrop of the historic Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in the early 1900's, Thangalaan is a historical adventure that narrates the erased role of oppressed communities in the exploration of gold in South of India.

Studio Green and Neelam Productions are backing Thangalaan. The film has music by GV Prakash, marking his first collaboration with the filmmaker. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer, while Selva RK and SS Murthi will handle the editing and art departments, respectively.

The film is in its post-production stage and the makers are yet to reveal the release date for the film. It was earlier scheduled to release on January 26, but has been pushed. Thangalaan is set to be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
