Rajinikanth thanks BCCI for giving him the World Cup Golden Ticket

The ICC Cricket ODI World Cup is set to begin on October 5, and it is happening in India for the first time since 2011. The last time, the World Cup was conducted in the country, India lifted the trophy for the second time ever.

Ahead of the World Cup, BCCI supremo Jay Shah met Rajinikanth at the latter's residence to hand him the 'Golden Ticket' that will allow the actor to watch any match this World Cup. In a tweet, Jay had said, "Honoured to present the golden ticket to the unparalleled cinematic icon, Shri Rajinikanth! His charisma knows no bounds and his passion for cricket is well-known. Delighted to welcome Thalaiva as our distinguished guest at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023! Let the magic begin."

Responding to the honour, Rajinikanth tweeted, "I am extremely happy to receive the prestigious Golden Ticket from BCCI for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. My heartfelt thanks to BCCI. Dear Jay Shah ji… it was a pleasure to meet you. Thank you very much for your warm words and thoughts." 

Rajinikanth joins Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar in the illustrious list of celebrities to receive this honour from the BCCI. 

The Cricket World Cup will begin on October 5, and the finals will be held on November 19.
