New poster of Santhanam's 80s Buildup is here

The film is written and directed by filmmaker S Kalyaan, who has previously helmed Jackpot, Ghosty, and Gulaebaghavali.

The makers of Santhanam's 80s Buildup had unveiled a new poster for the film. The poster which has Santhanam dressed in a shimmery shirt, also features a banner that says 'Kamal Rasigar Mandram' in the background.  

Studio Green took to X and wrote, "Naanum Kamal Haasan Rasigar than Da!!. Celebrate this festive season with a high dose of laughter! Presenting the First Kalaai from Santhanam's 80s Buildup."

In the small teaser which is set in the 80s, Santhanam's character and his wife were seen posing for the camera after their wedding. While he pushes her to smile for the camera multiple times, the narrator points out that the scene is not how it is and points out to the smartphone in his pocket, cartoon character Shin Chan and more.

Earlier the makers had released the first look poster of the film which features a retro style dressed characters, as the film's ensemble is revealed.

Apart from Santhanam, 80s Buildup will also feature Radhika Preethi, Mansoor Ali Khan, Rajendran, Redin Kingsley, KS Ravikumar, and Thangadurai, among others.

The film is written and directed by filmmaker S Kalyaan, who has previously helmed Jackpot, Ghosty, and Gulaebaghavali. 80s Buildup is backed by KE Gnanavel’s Studio Green banner.

Speaking to Cinema Express, the director said about the film, “It is a comedy film with a fantasy element. The film is set in a bereaving household and will happen in a span of one day. We have roped in many comedy actors to make it an out-and-out comedy entertainer. Besides the ones you see on the poster, the film also features late actors Mayilsamy and Manobala.”

The technical crew of 80s Buildup consists of music by Ghibran, and cinematography by Jacob Rathinaraj. MS Bharathi is the editor.  While many recent films have been using retro music for cultural references, the director clarified that his film will not use old films.
