The first look poster of Veerayi Makkal, the upcoming Tamil film, was released by Vijay Sethupathi on social media on Monday.

The first look poster shows the cast of the film gathered together in what looks like a pose for a photograph. A newlywed couple is standing in between them, as the rest of the characters surround them in traditional attire.

The film stars Vela Ramamoorthy, late Marimuthu, Deepa Shankar, Suresh Nandha, Rama, Senthil Kumari, Jerald Milton, Pandi, among others. The film is written and directed by Nagaraj Karuppaih, with Suresh Nandhi backing the film under the banner White Screen Films.

Speaking to CE, the director said, “It is a rooted film, which will focus on familial relationships and highlights the importance of bonds and relatives. The message of the film is give priority to humans and relationships over material happiness, while also being connected over generations without being lost.”

“The film is in the likes of Pandavar Bhoomi, Mayandi Kudumbathar, Kizhakku Cheemayile,” he added.

On working with Marimuthu, he said, “Beyond being an artist, he was a very good human being and  became one of our family members. It is a big loss for us.”

The shooting of the film took place in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. With the filming wrapped up, it is currently in post-production phase. Veerayi Makkal is set against the backdrop of Pudukottai.

Vela Ramamoorthy, late Marimuthu, and Jerald Milton play three brothers, with Deepa Shankar playing the sister. Theatre artist Pandi, who appeared in Thamizh Kudimagan, plays the mother to the brothers, Veerayi.

Veerayi Makkal’s technical crew consists of Seenivasan as the cinematographer with Mugan Vel handling the edits. The music is scored by Deepan Chakravarthy. The makers are eyeing for a December release.
