The video for the Chinnanjiru song from Ponniyin Selvan 2 was released online on Friday. Composed by AR Rahman, the song has lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan. Khatija Rahman has lent her voice to the song. The song features Aishwarya Rai and Vikram on screen.

Adapted by Mani Ratnam along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan, from the text of Kalki Krishnamurthy, the film was released in two parts, the first part hit the screens in September 2022, and the second released on April 28. both the films opened to positive reception, and the first part of the film was a colossal hit, grossing 500 crores at the box office. 

Ponniyin Selvan, which is set in the reign of the Chola empire, boasts an ensemble cast including Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi and others.

Backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan has music scored by AR Rahman. The post-theatrical rights of the film are bagged by Prime Video.
