Earlier, we reported that actors Sarath Kumar and Vidharth are working on a film titled, Samaran. The latest update is that the makers have completed filming the first schedule.

Speaking to CE, the film's director Thirumalai Balasamy said Samaran is an action drama. During the first schedule, they constructed a grand set to shoot a high-octane action sequence. Stating that they would resume filming the second schedule soon, Thirumalai says, "Sarath Kumar will play the Chairman of the Pollution Control Board, and Vidharth will play an army officer in the film. The story begins with a container from Thoothukudi harbour entering Ramanathapuram, which is a potential threat to the village. Sarath's character takes efforts to restrict its impact. On the other hand, Vidharth's character will embark on an investigative journey to find the reason behind his wife's death, which will also be connected to the container."

He also says that the film, inspired by two different true events, will light on some social issues like the root cause and effect of pollution, the decline of agriculture and caste discrimination, and more. "We speak about global warming. But we hardly discuss the various reasons that lead to it. Through this film, we attempt to show that. Besides, Samaran will also discuss the rising pollution concern in Delhi and the neighbouring areas," he adds. While Samaran has actor Nandha playing the antagonist's role, the film also features Singam Puli, Siddique, George, and Kumki-fame Ashwin, among others.

Backed by Rosh Kumar's M360° Studios, the film's technical crew includes cinematographer Kumar Sridhar, music composer Sugavanam and art director Sriman Balaji.
