Speaking about the growth of independent music in recent times to Cinema Express, she observes that post-pandemic, it has been an amazing time for independent music with more music festivals and live gigging opportunities.

"With all the tools and technology we have at our disposal today - this feels like a revival or a revolution in independent music especially here in India. And I wish more resources would be accessible to independent artists that could empower more artists to stay independent and still be able to unlock a level of interfacing with mass audiences that have been up until recently only accessible to labels," she says.

Shakthi also states that more musicians are now opting for the indie-music route with better scope for showcasing new music to audiences in the most analogue way possible, labels coming out with ventures to support non-film music and with OTT originals sync licensing indie songs.

Meanwhile, she recently lent her voice to AR Rahman's composition Aga Naga in Ponniyin Selvan II. Apart from Tamil, she also sang in Telugu and Malayalam.
