The makers of Gautham Karthik's August 16 1947 released the film's motion poster on Monday. In the motion poster, the film's story was captioned, "The most shocking story on India's Independence that no one ever dared to tell."

Written and Directed by NS Ponkumar, August 16 1947 borrows its title from the date that marks one day after India gained independence from the British colonial rulers. The film tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles British forces. Debutant Revathy Sharma is playing a lead role alongside Gautham Karthik.

Apart from Gautham Karthik August 16 1947, stars Pugazh, Richard Ashton, and Jason Shah, among others. August 16 1947, is backed by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary. The film's technical crew includes music by Sean Roldan, Selvakumar SK cranking the camera, and Sudharsan on the edit. August 16 1947 is all set to hit theatres on April 7.

Meanwhile, Gautham will be next seen in Pathu Thala, which will release on March 30.
