Oscars 2023: Rajinikanth lauds The Elephant Whisperers and Naatu Naatu team

Indians woke up to great news today as India bagged two Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards. Out of the three nominations, India bagged awards for Best Original Song, Naatu Naatu and Best Documentary Short, The Elephant Whisperers. Taking to social media, actor Rajinikanth congratulated MM Keeravaani, SS Rajamouli and Kartiki Gonsalves for their respective wins. 

In a short tweet, the veteran actor said, My hearty congratulations to Shri. Keeravani, Shri. Rajamouli and Shri. Kartiki Gonsalves for getting the prestigious Oscar Award. I salute the proud Indians." (sic)

Naatu Naatu created history at the Academy Awards by becoming the first Indian-produced song to win in the Best Original Song category. Composed by Keeravani, Naatu Naatu is sung by  Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

The Elephant Whisperers is about two elephant caretakers, Bomman and Bellie, who become parents to two elephant calves Raghu and Ammukutty. The documentary is set in the Mudumalai Reserve in Tamil Nadu.
