While it was earlier speculated that Kannum Kannum Kollayadithal-fame Desingh Periyasamy might direct Rajinikanth for his next, a fresh round of reports hints that he is instead joining hands with Silambarasan TR soon.

The reports further suggest that the film will be bankrolled by Kamala Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) and will have music composed by Anirudh. If the reports are to be believed then this will be the first time Anirudh will be composing for a Simbu film. The film will reportedly be a period drama.

Meanwhile, Simbu is gearing up to release his action-drama Pathu Thala, which is directed by Obeli N Krishna, who made the original Kannada film Mufti in 2017. Pathu Thala is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on March 30.
