On Thursday, the makers of actor Ramarajan's next announced that the film has been officially launched with a pooja ceremony. Tentatively titled Ramarajan 46, the film is backed by Dheenadayalan under the 7 Artry Film Factory banner. Karthik Kumar V is making his directorial debut with this film.  

Ramarajan is already working on his comeback film Saamaniyan, directed by A Rahesh. Karthik Kumar V is the scriptwriter of Saamaniyan. Producer Mathiyalagan of Etcetera Entertainment, who is backing Saamaniyan, is also making his acting debut through Ramarajan 46. 

In a press statement, the director said, "The story of Saamaniyan is based on my painful experience in 2018, and Ramarajan sir looked perfect for this role. However, while writing the script for this particular film, I had Ramarajan sir in my mind while designing the protagonist’s character. This film revolves around a serious social issue faced by the people of today’s society. Nonetheless, there wouldn’t be any similarities between Saamaniyan and this movie."

Ilaiyaraaja, who has already reunited with Ramarajan after 23 years for Saamaniyan, will be working again with the actor for his upcoming film. With cinematography by Richard Franklin, Ramarajan 46 will have editing by Karthik.
