While Tamil cinema, so far, has had a successful year, with many debutant filmmakers creating ripples at the box office, director Vignesh Raja who made his debut with Por Thozhil, penned a note celebrating 50 days since the release of the film.

Starring Ashok Selvan and Sarath Kumar in the lead roles, Por Thozhil is a crime investigation thriller, which was met with financial success and critical acclaim.

"I had sleepless nights leading up to the release of Por Thozhil. I knew we had made a good film but I really wanted the film to succeed. It was not for me," Vignesh wrote, as he thanked the cast, crew, producers, media and audience. "I wanted Por Thozhil to amount to something. Something to show for. But what has unfolded is nothing short of miracle. Today marks the 50th day of Por Thozhil's theatrical run. The film has been declared a box office block buster. This one is for the team," the director added.

Por Thozhil followed a rookie and experienced cop trying to solve a series of murders. The film marks the last venture of late actor Sarath Babu, who played a prominent part. Vignesh Raja has written Por Thozhil along with Alfred Prakash. The film's technical crew includes Kalaiselvan Sivaji as the cinematographer, Sreejith Sarangm as the editor, and Jakes Bejoy as the music composer.

The film is attached to Applause Entertainment studio, which marks its maiden Tamil project with Por Thozhil. Its streaming rights are bagged by SonyLIV.
