The trailer of Thalaikoothal, the upcoming film starring actors Samuthirakani, Kathir and Vasundhara, was released by the makers on social media on Thursday. The film is set to release in theatres on February 3.

The trailer begins with the definition of Thalaikoothal, a traditional practice of senicide or involuntary euthanasia, by their own family members, practised n certain parts of southern Tamil Nadu. The trailer goes on to show how Samuthirakani takes care of his father who is bed-ridden and in vegetative state. He is coerced by people around him to practise Thalaikoothal. In parallel, we see a love story featuring Kathir.

The film is written and directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, with S Sashikanth producing it. The film borrows its title from a traditional practice of euthanasia by the family members of elderly.

The technical crew consists of cinematography by Martin Donraj, with Dani Charles as the editor.
