The shooting of Rajinikanth's upcoming film, Jailer, is going on in full swing, and the actor is set to resume filming for the project, which is currently underway in Hyderabad.

In an announcement video, the makers of Jailer announced that Rajinikanth will play Muthuvel Pandian in the film, which is billed to be an action thriller that happens over a day.

While the makers confirmed the presence of Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar in Jailer, there are now speculations doing the rounds that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. It is also said that Mohanlal will join Rajinikanth in the Hyderabad schedule. However, an official confirmation about the actor's involvement in the Nelson directorial hasn't been made.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, which earlier backed Annaatthe,  Jailer has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is expected to hit the theatres in 2023 summer. Jailer also stars Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, and Vasanth Ravi in pivotal roles.
