Earlier, the makers of Jailer revealed that Superstar Rajinikanth will play Muthuvel Pandian in the upcoming film.

While the film is under production, the latest reports suggest that 70% of filming has been completed and that the story unfolds overnight. Also, rumours are rife that Mohanlal has been roped in to play a pivotal role in Jailer. However, no official announcement regarding the same has been made yet.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film will mark Rajini's 169th outing. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, which earlier backed Annaatthe. Set in the background of jail, Rajini plays the titular character in Jailer, named Muthuvel Pandian. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is expected to hit the theatres in 2023 summer. Jailer also stars Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, and Vasanth Ravi in pivotal roles.
