Vijay distributes relief materials to those affected by heavy rains in Thoothukudi and Thirunelveli

Days after heavy rains wreaked havoc in the Tamil Nadu districts of Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) and Nellai (Tirunelveli), leading to significant floods that impacted numerous lives, Tamil actor Vijay stepped forward to assist those in distress and distributed relief materials to families hit by the floods.

The southern districts of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari were severely affected by unrelenting showers last week, which caused widespread flooding and disrupted daily life.

Now, a number of images and videos of the celebrity have circulated on social media and gone viral, showing Vijay engaging with the locals and distributing relief materials. through the program organised by his fan club Vijay Makkal Iyakkam. The actor is reportedly handing out Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 to people who have lost their houses due to cyclone and Rs 1 lakh for a family who lost any of their family members.

Earlier, in a tweet, he also urged his fan club members to assist and help people during Cyclone Michaung which left several places in Chennai inundated, which left people suffering without drinking water and other basic supplies for many days.

On the work front, Vijay was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action thriller Leo, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2023. He is currently working on a Venkat Prabhu directorial, tentatively titled as Thalapathy 68.
