CE Features

We had earlier reported that actor Vaibhav, who was last seen in the 2022 film Buffoon, will be pairing up with actor Athulya Ravi, for an upcoming Tamil comedy film. The title for the film has now been revealed as Chennai City Gangsters. The title is a callback to the song sung by Anirudh in the film Vanakkam Chennai (2013).

The film will be helmed by Vikram Rajeshwar and Arun Keshav in their directorial debut. Both of them have directed advertisements earlier. Vikram is the son of writer and director K Rajeshwar who has worked as a writer in films like Kadalora Kavidhaigal, Paneer Pushpangal, Seevelaperi Pandi, Vetri Vizha, to name a few.

In an earlier conversation with CE, Vikram shared that the film revolves around a robbery and is set against the backdrop of Chennai. The film went on floors in October.

Apart from Vaibhav and Athulya, Chennai City Gangsters also stars  Anandraj, Rajendran, John Vijay, Redin Kingsley, Sunil Reddy, Ilavarasu, PL Thenappan and others in supporting roles.

Interestingly, Chennai City Gangsters will mark the first time brothers Vaibhav and Sunil will be sharing screen space.

The technical crew consists of D Imman scoring the music, while Tijo Tomy and Suresh A Prasad have been roped in as the cinematographer and editor respectively. Arun Shankar Durai is doing the art direction and stunts are handled by Don Ashok. The film is backed by Bobby Balachandran under his home banner BTG Universal.
