Superstar Rajinikanth, who was recently on a pilgrimage to Rishikesh, kicked up a storm when he met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and fell on his feet to take his blessings. The gesture divided the internet, with several users criticising the actor.

Now, the Jailer actor has explained the reason behind his gesture. Responding to one of the queries posed by a reporter, Rajinikanth said, "Whether a sanyasi or a yogi, it is my habit to fall at their feet even if they are younger than me. That's what I did."

Meanwhile, on the work front, the superstar's Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar has been minting money at the box office. Apart from Rajinikanth, the film features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Shivrajkumar,  Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayak, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Sunil, Tamannaah, among others.
