Jailer, the recently released Rajinikanth-starrer boasts a stellar ensemble as it features superstars from each film industry in cameo appearances. While Rajinikanth essays the lead titular role as jailer Muthuvel Pandian, the film also features Shivrajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff joining forces with Rajinikanth, for a limited time onscreen.

Filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, who directed Jailer, revealed recently in an interview that he had the idea to cast Nandamuri Balakrishna, the veteran Telugu actor in Jailer.

In an interview with Viketan, Nelson, while speaking about casting actors from different industries, said, “I had wanted to use Balakrishna sir from Telugu and even tried to incorporate a few scenes. But I could not spin it well. I am not sure if would have accepted or not, had I had the scope to cast him as well. “

On being asked what role Balakrishna would have been approached for, Nelson said, “I had a deadly, attacking cop role in mind. But I could not flesh out the arc well enough and thought it might not be as powerful as he deserves. So we had dropped it.”

Jailer is a dark comedy action drama. The film follows a cat and mouse chase between Muthuvel Pandian  and Vinayakan’s Varman who is an idol smuggler. The film also features Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah, Yogi Babu, among others.
