Maaveeran, the recently released Tamil film starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, has collected Rs 89 crores at the box office run, the makers of the film announced.

The fantasy action drama is directed by Madonne Ashwin in his sophomore directorial. The film also stars Aditi Shankar, Myskiin, Sunil, Yogi Babu, and Saritha, among others. Vijay Sethupathi has lent his voice to a prominent part. Maaveeran is backed by Shanthi Talkies.

Maaveeran features Sivakarthikeyan as a timid cartoonist, who suddenly gets to hear a voice that predicts the near future, after a freak accident. The film follows how the cartoonist uses the voice to gain courage and question the authorities in power for the poor infrastructure of his colony. The film opened to positive reviews.
