Actor Abhishek Bachchan heaped praise on the recently release Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam. 

Taking to his social Twitter handle, he wrote, "PS2 is simply FANTASTIC!!! At a loss for words right now. So overwhelmed. Well done to the entire team and the rest of the cast and crew. And so, so proud of the Mrs Her best by far." (sic)

His wife and actor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, played one of the central characters, Nandhini. The epic period film, directed by Mani Ratnam, tells a fictional story of the Chola dynasty. It also features Trisha, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban, among many others. The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel, is adapted by Mani Ratnam, along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan. Produced under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners, Ponniyin Selvan was shot by Ravi Varman, while AR Rahman composed the music. The technical crew includes editor A Sreekar Prasad and production designer Thota Tharani.
