Filmmaker Pa Ranjith revealed that his upcoming film Thangalaan, starring Vikram, will mostly hit the theatres by the end of this month.

Addressing the media recently, the director said, "We have completed 80% filming. We also completed shooting major portions in KGF for around 55 days. We have to shoot for the remaining 25 days, and hopefully, it should be over in May. The shooting was challenging but all of them were supportive and put in hardwork to make it happen. There are a lot of VFX work so it will need some time. Hopefully, the film will release by the end of this year."

Thangalaan is expected to showcase the story of the origins of the Kolar Gold Field of Karnataka. It also features Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan, and Hari Krishnan in pivotal roles. Helmed by Pa Ranjith, it is backed by Studio Green and Neelam Productions. GV Prakash is scoring the music of the film, marking his first collaboration with the filmmaker. Tamil Prabha is the co-writer of the film, while Selva RK and SS Murthi will be handling the editing and art departments, respectively. The film also will release in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
