On Wednesday, the makers of August 16 1947 announced that the film has passed censor formalities with a U/A. The film is all set to hit theatres on April 7.

Written and Directed by NS Ponkumar, August 16 1947 borrows its title from the date that marks one day after India gained independence from the British colonial rulers. The film tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles British forces. Debutant Revathy Sharma is playing a lead role alongside Gautham Karthik.

Apart from Gautham Karthik August 16 1947, stars Pugazh, Richard Ashton, and Jason Shah, among others. August 16 1947, is backed by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary. The film's technical crew includes music by Sean Roldan, Selvakumar SK cranking the camera, and Sudharsan on the edit.
