Soori expresses joy over meeting Ilaiyaraaja

Actor Soori, who is currently enjoying the success of Viduthalai-Part 1, took to social media to express his joy of meeting composer Ilaiyaraaja.

"Just a while before, I met the music (Ilaiyaraaja) and thanked him. Took his blessings. Thanking the god," he wrote.

Ilaiyaraaja scored music for Viduthalai-Part 1, in which Soori plays the lead role. The film which hit the theatres last weekend, opened to positive reviews. The period action thriller is helmed by Vetri Maaran, and also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Chetan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, among others. The film touches upon the police brutality, a common theme in Vetri Maaran’s films.

The film features Soori as Kumaresan, a young cop and Vijay Sethupathi as Perumal/Vathiyar, a leader of militant group. While majority of shooting for the second part is over, a release date is yet to be announced.

Viduthalai-Part 1 marks Soori's maiden project in a lead role.
