Vels Film International has released the official music video for the hit viral song Mallipoo from Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The song was composed by A R Rahman with lyrics from Thamari and had vocals by Madhushree. Upon the film's release, the song became an instant hit and was lauded for its picturisation. 

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is based on a short story written by novelist Jeyamohan, who has also co-written the screenplay with director Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film stars Silambarasan T R in the lead while Siddhi Idnani plays the female lead, which marks her Tamil debut. The ensemble cast of the film also includes Raadhika Sarathkumar, Neeraj Madhav, and Siddique in supporting roles.

The film had its theatrical release on 15 September and received generally favourable reviews. During the audio launch of the film, the director confirmed that a sequel is reportedly in development with the primary cast set to reprise their roles.
