Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently working on the pre-production of his upcoming film with Vijay. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, the film is eagerly awaited, particularly after the blockbuster success of Lokesh's last film Vikram.

Speculations have been rife that many big names from other languages will be part of Thalapathy 67. As per a report in Pinkvilla, Sanjay Dutt has been signed to play the antagonist's role in the film. If it turns out to be true, it will mark Sanjay Dutt's debut in Tamil. The veteran was recently seen as the villain opposite Yash in KGF: Chapter 2. 

Lokesh has hinted that the film will be high on action, though it is not clear if it will be part of the same universe as Kaithi and Vikram. Currently, the director is finalising the script and casting. The shoot is expected to begin by the end of this year.
