It's been 16 years since Silambarasan TR last wielded the megaphone for a project. However, in a media interaction ahead of the release of his upcoming film, Vendhu Thanidhathu Kaadu, the actor-director revealed his directorial aspirations.

Vallavan (2006), which marked his directorial debut, had Simbu also double up as the lead actor. When asked about his return to filmmaking, Silambarasan said, "Yes, I do have plans to direct a film. In fact, I have about ten scripts ready for the same."

Silambarasan had a tongue-in-cheek response to questions about who would he cast in the lead of his upcoming directorial ventures. "Who else? It will star me in the lead. Of course, I might direct films with others in the lead, but these scripts all will have me as the protagonist."
