Aishwarya Lekshmi's look as Poonguzhali from Ponniyin Selvan out

The makers of Ponniyin Selvan have released the look of actor Aishwarya Lekshmi, from the film, on social media on Saturday.

The actor is playing the role of Samudrakumari Poonguzhali , a fictional character from the novel Ponniyin Selvan, on which the film is based on. As per the fiction, the character is closely connected to several pivotal characters from the fiction. Poonguzhali is aunt of Arulmozhi Varman/Ponniyin Selvan (played by Jayam Ravi), and friend of Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan (played by Karthi).

Ponniyin Selvan's first installment is scheduled to release in theatres on September 30.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the upcoming epic period film features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban. It is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, and adapted by Mani Ratnam, along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan. It is produced under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banner.

Ponniyin Selvan was shot by Ravi Varman, while AR Rahman composed the music. The technical crew also includes editor A Sreekar Prasad and production designer Thota Tharani.
