Following the success of Soorarai Pottru, the rumours were going rounds that the National Award-winning filmmaker and actor duo Sudha Kongara and Suriya will be reuniting for another film.

The latest reports suggest that the film will go on floors in March 2023. The much-anticipated venture is expected to be a period gangster film based on true events. On the other hand, the buzz is that the film will have GV Prakash Kumar composing the music. The musician also worked in Soorarai Pottru. It is also speculated that Suriya will be simultaneously shooting for Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetrimaran. However, the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.

Meanwhile, Suriya, Sudha Kongara and GV Prakash Kumar recently received their first National Award for Soorarai Pootru under the Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Music Composer categories, respectively. Apart from Vaadivaasal, Suriya has a slew of upcoming projects in the pipeline, including Vanangaan, directed by Bala and Suriya 42, a period action film directed by Siva.

On the other hand, Sudha Kongara is currently directing the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, which has Akshay Kumar reprising Suriya's role. Interestingly, Suriya will be appearing in a cameo role in the Akshay Kumar-starrer.
