Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1), which continues its successful run at the box-office, has touched another box-office milestone. The Mani Ratnam-directed epic has crossed the 450 crore mark at the box-office, Lyca Productions, one of the film's producers, announced officially on Wednesday.

The film, which released in multiple languages on September 30, turned out to be an instant blockbuster and has cemented its position as one of the biggest money-spinners in history of Tamil cinema. Reports suggest that the film already crossed 200 crores at the Tamil Nadu box-office, a feat hitherto unheard in the industry. Trade believes that the popularity of Kalki's literature the film is based on has served as a major catalyst for its box-office success.

The film, featuring a massive ensemble that includes Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai, is co-production between Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

The team is yet to announce the release date of PS-2. It is expected to hit the screens in the Summer of 2023.
