Vikram extends gratitude to audience as fans shower love on Ponniyin Selvan 1

The epic drama directed by Mani Ratnam garnered 80 crores at the worldwide box office on the opening day

Following the grand release of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, Vikram took to his social media handle to express his gratitude to the audience for well-receiving the film. 

He began his gratitude note by saying thanks in English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. "Thank you for the good reception and feedbacks for my character Aditha Karikalan. I have done many films and characters and I am so proud of it. But this film is celebrated by everyone as if it is their own. It is so heartfelt. Thanks to the rest of the cast and Mani sir for making Ponniyin Selvan what it is."

Meanwhile, the epic drama directed by Mani Ratnam garnered 80 crores at the worldwide box office on the opening day. The film also stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar and Ashwin Kakamanu.

The film hit the screens worldwide on September 30. The historical drama is a two-part film based on the epic book of the same name, authored by Kalki. Ponniyin Selvan is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions and the duology will release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
