After delivering back-to-back successes with gritty, rooted social dramas in the form of Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, director Mari Selvaraj is currently working on his third film, Maamannan. Starrring Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead, Maamannan also stars Keerthy Suresh, Vadivelu, and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles.

Earlier, we had reported that Mari Selvaraj's long-awaited collaboration with Dhruv Vikram was entering production in 2023. This project was supposed to be a sports biopic based on the life of a Kabaddi player from South Tamil Nadu.

Now, the latest update from team Mari Selvaraj is that the filmmaker's next will be announced on Monday. The update poster of that project features a vaazha elai (a plantain leaf), and the middle portion of it doubles up as a dusty pathway that has kids running on it.

While netizens are expecting this announcement to be about the Dhruv Vikram film, it is also speculated that this project will be a completely different one. It is reported that this Mari Selvaraj project, which will be backed by Disney+ Hotstar, stars Kalaiyarasan and Nikhila Vimal in the lead.

Meanwhile, the shooting of Maamannan has been wrapped up, and the post-production work is underway. With music by AR Rahman, and cinematography by Theni Eswar, Maamannan is backed by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies.
