Vikram-Pa Ranjith film to be set in 19th Century's KGF

Director Pa Ranjith has revealed at the Cannes Film Market that his upcoming film starring Vikram will be set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), but it will be completely different to the KGF duology of Prashanth Neel.

Ranjith's untitled film will be a period social drama about working-class miners who unearth gold in KGF for the first time in the 19th Century. The director has stated that he wanted to wait until Prashanth Neel's KGF films got released, to check for similarities. Initially, the Vikram film was supposed to take off after Kabali

The script of the film is currently being written and it is co-produced by Ranjith's Neelam production and Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green productions.

Apart from this film, Ranjith has Natchathiram Nagargirathu, the crossover film Vettuvam, Sarpatta Parambarai-spinoffs and his Hindu debut based on the life of Birsa Munda in the lineup.
