Shoot for Vijay's new film with Vamshi Paidipally is currently progressing in Hyderabad. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, the film is billed as a family-based entertainer with a formidable star cast.

A photo of Vijay along with his co-stars Sarath Kumar, Srikanth, Prakash Raj is currently doing the rounds in social media. Earlier in the day, Prakash Raj had also shared a photo taken with Vijay. It is after 13 long years that the Ghilli duo is acting together. Their last outing together was Villu (2009).

Thalapathy 66, scripted by Vamshi along with Hari and Ahishor Solomon, also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, Sangeetha, Shaam, and Jayasudha. The film has music by Thaman and cinematography by Kharthik Palani.

Produced by Dil Raju and Sirish of Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is scheduled for a Pongal 2023 release.
