The much-awaited first single from Kamal Haasan's upcoming Vikram is out. Titled Pathala Pathala, the film is a peppy gaana that is sung and written by Kamal Haasan. Composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the lyrics are in the North Madras dialect.

The song is reminiscent of many of Kamal's previous tracks like Annaatha Aaduraar (Aboorva Sagotharagal), Kandhasamy Ramasamy (Pammal K Samandham), and Alwarpettai Aandava (Vasool Raja). The lyrics also retain the wit of Kamal Haasan, who at an instance takes a dig at the "ondriya arasu".

Kamal Haasan, in many instances, has spoken about the cultural significance of North Madras dialects and has taken pride in being well-versed in it. Pathala Pathala yet again depicts his love for the culture.

Meanwhile, Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set to release on June 3. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles. Vikram marks the return of Kamal Haasan, who didn't have a release for the past four years.
