According to several reports, producer J Jayakrishnan of E5 Entertainments has filed a case against producer Boney Kapoor of Bayview Projects LLP and filmmaker H Vinoth stating that they have illegally copied the characters and themes from his 2016 film Metro in their recent release Valimai.

Following this, the Madras High Court has sent a notice to Boney and Vinoth.

Directed by Anandkrishnan, Metro starred Shirish, Bobby Simha, Sathya, Sai Priyanka Ruth and Maya. The film followed a chain snatching gang that used motor vehicles. Incidentally, Valimai, which stars Ajith Kumar, Huma Qureshi, and Kartikeya, also dealt with a similar criminal gang.

In the case filed by Jayakrishnan, he has reportedly alleged that Valimai also copies a few tropes from Metro, such as a younger brother betraying his elder to join the opposing gang, the gang also being involved in drug peddling, and so on.

With music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Valimai was released in theatres on February 24.
