Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan to release on September 30; first look posters out

Mani Ratnam's much-awaited magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) will hit screens on September 30 this year. The film's producers Madras Talkies announced the news on their Twitter handle.

Additionally, they also released first look posters of Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi from the film. The cast also includes Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, and Ashwin Kakamanu.

The news was announced today on the occasion of producer Allirajah Subaskaran's birthday.

Based on the best-selling novel by Kalki, Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) has a screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. The film, which wrapped production in September last year, has been shot across India.

It is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The duology will see Mani Ratnam collaborate once more with ace composer AR Rahman.
