Director Shankar on Maamanithan: Vijay Sethupathi deserves a national award

Ace filmmaker Shankar has heaped praises on actor Vijay Sethupathi's performance in director Seenu Ramasamy's family-drama Maamanithan.

He tweeted, "Got the satisfaction of watching a good film. Director Seenu Ramasamy put his heart and soul and made this a realistic classic. Vijay Sethupathi‘s brilliant performance deserves a national award. Music from Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja blended soulfully with the film."

The film sees the legendary Ilaiyaraaja and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja coming together for the first time to compose music.

Maamanithan also stars Gayathrie, KPAC Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram and Shaji Chen. The film's cinematography and editing were handled by M Sukumar and A Sreekar Prasad, respectively.

Director Shankar last made 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. He is currently working on RC15 which features Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, Anjali, Jayaram, Sunil, Srikanth, and Naveen Chandra in prominent roles. It is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations. He also has Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan in the making.
