It was earlier reported that Kamal Haasan would be penning a script for Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan. Kamal has now confirmed that he will be starring in the film, which will mark the debut of Mahesh in Tamil.

Mahesh is known for directing films like Take Off, C U Soon and Malik. Notably, he has earlier worked with Kamal Haasan as editor in the Vishwaroopam films.

As confirmed by Kamal in a recent interview, their upcoming project will go on floors by the end of July. The two had recently travelled to the US, which is most likely to be part of the film's pre-production. Kamal's home banner Raaj Kamal Films International will be producing this project.

Mahesh Narayanan's next release will be Malayankunju starring Fahadh Faasil. He has also completed the shoot of Ariyippu with Kunchacko Boban. The director also has his Bollywood debut Phantom Hospital lined up.

Meanwhile, Kamal's recent release Vikram has opened to phenomenal response at the box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the actioner also stars Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi and Suriya.
