First single for Ponniyin Selvan titled Ponni Nadhi is out

The first single from Mani Ratnam’s historical epic Ponniyin Selvan titled Ponni Nadhi is out. The makers of the film launched the song at a live event organised at Chennai’s EA mall. The event was attended by Jayam Ravi who plays the central character called Arunmozhi Varman. The song is composed by AR Rahman and has lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan. The first single has vocals by the music director himself along with AR Raihanah, and Bamba Baky.

Ponniyin Selvan is a historical fiction based on celebrated Tamil author Kalki’s novel of the same name, the book was first published in 1955. The epic story revolves around the politics surrounding the Cholan dynasty. The song portrays Karthi’s character Vanthiyathevan as he rides his horse along the Kaveri river. 

Subaskaran is producing the film under his Lyca Productions banner along with Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. Ravi Varman handles the cinematography while Sreekar Prasad is roped in as the editor.

Ponniyin Selvan-I is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 30 September 2022. Directed by Mani Ratnam, The ensemble cast for the film includes Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Nasser, and Vikram.
