The first look and teaser of Dhanush's upcoming film Vaathi will be released on July 27 and 28, respectively. Directed by Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri, the film has been planned as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Titled Sir in Telugu, it has Malayalam actor Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. In a recent interview with CE, the Kaduva actor revealed that she plays a teacher's role in the film.

Vaathi also stars Sai Kumar and veteran Tanikella Bharani in prominent roles. It has music by GV Prakash, cinematography by Yuvraj, and editing by Navin Nooli.

The film is produced jointly by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
