Mani Ratnam tests positive for Covid-19

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam has tested positive for Covid-19. It is reported that the filmmaker has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.

Mani Ratnam, who is currently busy with the post-production work of his upcoming duology, Ponniyin Selvan, fell unwell and took a Covid-19 test. After it came out positive, the filmmaker was admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Many celebrities and fans expressed their solidarity with the filmmaker and wished him a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Ponniyin Selvan is set to hit the theatres on September 30. The multi-starrer features Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in the leads. The ensemble includes Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Arjun Chidambaram, and Ashwin Kakamanu. 

Backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan has music by AR Rahman, and a screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, and Kumaravel. With cinematography by Ravi Varman, Ponniyin Selvan has production design by Thota Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
