Mani Ratnam tests negative for Covid-19

Filmmaker Mani Ratnam has tested negative for Covid-19, sources close to the director confirmed the news.

Earlier during the day, it was reported that Mani Ratnam had tested positive for the virus and was admitted at a private hospital in Chennai. Reports suggested that Mani Ratnam felt unwell and took a Covid-19 test, which came out positive. The filmmaker was then admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

However, it is now said that the filmmaker has tested negative for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker is currently busy with his upcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1). Set to hit the theatres on September 30, the multi-starrer features Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in the leads. The ensemble includes Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Arjun Chidambaram, and Ashwin Kakamanu. 

Ponniyin Selvan is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman, and screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, and Kumaravel. With cinematography by Ravi Varman, Ponniyin Selvan has production design by Thota Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
